Garden design with kids in mind

A garden is a place where your children can play safely while you watch, it helps to entice them away from the TV and out into the sunshine where they can enjoy nature while you watch from a safe distance.

Get kids out of the house and into the garden

They probably enjoy TV and video games, but you know you can’t let them do that all the time. A garden with its own specially prepared area specifically for the kids will get out them out the house and into the fresh air. There’s ample opportunity for exploration and discovery if you’ve prepared the garden well beforehand. Make the garden as inviting as possible so they’ll be more likely to go outside. A lovely garden design will help keep them motivated into spending as much time outdoors as possible, especially during the summer months.

Designate a portion of the garden for your children

Within your garden, you can allocate a small area just for them, and by doing so, you can fill it with all sorts of things with which they can enjoy in the sunshine. We’re talking paddling pools, storage containers, a Wendy house or even a tree house. An outdoor place to play is perfect for young children and can even help them with classroom performance.

Flowers make the garden more interesting and beautiful

From an aesthetic point of view, you can make it prettier by lining it with flowers, it doesn’t have to be expensive and makes for pleasant surroundings. Plant flowers which are pretty to look at in terms of colours, but also ones with great textures, so there something to touch and feel.

Add a few accessories

You can add things like watering cans, buckets, bowls, mud pie containers, which could be old baking utensils and baking tins. You could also install a bird garden and some plants that attract insects, especially butterflies. When they go in the garden always remember sun protection, such as hats, suitable clothes and plenty of sunscreen. Children’s skin is very sensitive to UV rays, so always make sure your children are protected with the correct sun cream factor.
