Front garden design

Sometimes people have a tendency to spend an awful lot of time on their back gardens with little regard for the front. This can be a shame, because there's nothing better or more impressive than a little curb appeal for the front of the house. A new front garden design can be a real game-changer if you're thinking of selling your house in the near future. Keep in mind that the front part of your house is the first thing people see as they approach your home and it helps if they get a good first impression.

Any style you choose

You can create your front garden in whichever style you like from minimal to a slightly wilder look. It will look really lively and colourful if it's full of plants, providing food for wildlife with an abundance of butterflies and birds. Even if it's small, you can make it beautiful and useful to wildlife, and at the same time a really beautiful area in which to relax as well as your back garden. Our team of landscape gardeners in West Lothian can also help you.

Colour all year round

One way of creating an all year round garden full of colour is to choose plants that will flower all through the seasons, giving the front of your garden a real fresh look. Use little paving and keep your green and brown bins away from view, or at least make it so people are drawn to other flowers. Window boxes may feel like a little much if you have them as well as the garden, the front part may be enough without additional window box flowering, making it too 'busy.' If your front garden is quite sparse however, then you could consider maybe one or two window boxes with a splash of colour to bring it to life.

Different plants for different gardens

There are a variety of different plants which would be suitable for your front garden, from evergreens to climbers to help brighten up a dull wall, or maybe a group of plants and interesting containers such as cups, watering cans and unusually shaped pots. You can combine plants and parking for both terraced and semi-detached, leaving ample room for parking and for your front garden. All it takes is a little careful forward planning, if you have a larger semi-detached you may want to leave room for at least two cars but less so for a terraced.
